Check if your domain is still available

If you want to build your own online presence, you first need a meaningful domain name for your website. Think about the content you want to convey and choose a suitable name. Once the domain name is decided, you should use our domain checker to see if the name is still available or already taken.

Our professional domain check is your uncomplicated tool to verify your preferred domain. With just a few inputs, you can find out if you can register the chosen name.

With us, you have more than 950 top-level domains to choose from – including classics like .com or the .de domain. Since early 2014, there are also new domain extensions that you can register or pre-order with us if they are not yet live.

With our AI Domain Generator, you can quickly generate creative and original domain names.

Check domain availability: How to find your perfect web address

To check the availability of your domain, simply enter the desired name into the search field of our domain check. Our system will show you in real-time whether the domain is still available.

If your preferred domain is already taken, you have the following options:

  • Choose alternative domain extensions: Consider using a different top-level domain (TLD). For example, if “example.com” is taken, you could check “example.net” or “example.org”. There are numerous TLDs that might suit your project even better.
  • Contact the domain owner: You can try to contact the current owner of the desired domain and make a purchase offer. Information about the domain owner can often be found in the legal notice (Impressum) of the respective website. Note, however, that the owner is not obliged to sell the domain, and the price can vary.
  • Make creative adjustments: Consider slightly modifying the domain name, for example by adding hyphens or using synonyms. Instead of “examplesite.com”, you could choose “example-site.com” or “examplewebsite.com”.
  • Examine legal steps: If you believe you have a legitimate claim to the domain, for example due to a registered trademark, you can consider legal action. In Germany, DENIC offers the possibility of a dispute entry, which prevents the domain from being transferred without your consent. Further information can be found at DENIC.

It is important to proceed carefully when choosing your domain and to check all available options to find the best solution for your online project.
